New importers most often lose time at customs because one document in the set is missing or inconsistent with the others — not because of a compliance issue with the goods themselves.
At minimum, keep the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and any required inspection certificate consistent in quantities, values and party names across every document.
